2018 hot hair color trends

While a select few are lucky enough to have eye-popping hair color naturally, most of us find our natural shade to be somewhat dull and drab.  Considering the vast majority of people feature some shade of brown or black (only about 2% are natural blondes, while an estimated 1-2% enjoy fiery red shades), it’s no surprise so many people are interested in adding color, whether it’s a bold wash or the shimmer and depth of highlights and lowlights.

If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd and gain some attention with your tresses, adding color is a great way to do it, and changing trends allow you the opportunity to be somewhat mercurial.  Which hair trends have proven hot so far in 2018?  Here are a few you may want to try.

ROSE GOLD

If you don’t want to go crazy with rainbow-hued hair, a great way to get that extra oomph is with rose gold hair, exemplified by celebs like Emma Roberts.  You’ll want to skew more copper or apricot than pink to stay on trend.  Make sure to use nourishing hair products like Rose Oil Shampoo and Conditioner to keep locks healthy and bright, just like a copper penny.

BUTTERY BLONDE

They say that blondes have more fun, which is probably why this sunny shade never goes out of style.  The only thing that seems to shift is which shade is de rigueur.  Platinum, beige, and ashy blonde are all a bit passé at the moment, which leaves us with warm, golden, buttery hues like Emma Stone was sporting at the Oscars this year.

FRUIT JUICE HAIR COLOR

High school kids are notorious for using powdered packets of Kool-Aid to add shocking temporary color to their hair.  It washes out pretty quickly, so if it’s a disaster, it’s short-lived.  Also, it smells de-lish.  However, the fun and funky colors most often seen in pitchers of fruit juice have become a hair trend this year.  With juicy hues of red, orange, yellow, pink, and purple, you can achieve an adult version of the fruity colors you loved as a carefree teen.

SUCCULENT HAIR

Unicorn hair has come and gone (it was too much upkeep, anyway).  Mermaid and galaxy hair are SO 2017.  So, what’s a girl with rainbow ambitions to do?  Get succulent.  Imagine a garden awash in shades of turquoise, magenta, teal, and jade.  If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like to sport a succulent garden on your head, 2018 is the time to give succulent hair a try.  Just make sure to keep color-treated hair healthy with frequent deep conditioning treatments like Color Brightening Hair Mask.
