Everyone has been there, split ends that never seem to go away. Once it begins, it's almost impossible to get rid of it. But if you maintain your hair and treat it right, your hair will thank you with beautiful, soft, and luscious locks! So prevent your split ends from coming back and begin taking care of your only hair!
- Wet hair - After you take a nice shower or even after a relaxing swim in the pool, your hair is at its weakest when wet. So try to avoid brushing your hair when it's wet and tangled. Once it is dry, your hair is less prone to breakage. Better safe than sorry! But if you really have to brush your hair, try using the wide teeth combs for less tugging.
-
Heat
- Whether you're blow drying your hair or curling it, always make sure to use
heat protectant! Yes, everyone keeps telling you, but it will drastically save your hair from direct heat with no protection. Because of the direct heat, all the moisture from the hair cuticles will
dissipate leaving your hair brittle and dry: hence, being prone to breakage and split ends.
-
Leave in masque & oil
-
Leave in masques not only hydrate and nourish your hair but also lasts longer in your hair compared to the normal rinse off conditioners. So in addition to the heat protection from the deep conditioning, throughout
the day you will definitely notice your hair feeling softer and smoother longer. Hair oils are used after you dry your hair for extra moisture. Oils also help in managing frizzy hair and seals split ends
while instantly adding shine.
-
Brushing
- When brushing your hair, try to be as gentle as possible. Using softer bristles like natural boar bristle is better for your hair, as faux bristles may be too harsh and inflexible causing it to tear and tug
at your hair.
-
Trim
- Get your hair trimmed on a regular basis. The average time for trims would be roughly every six to eight weeks or more depending on your hair. Just make sure to watch your hair for split ends, if you
do see one here and there, try using hair shears to snip off the ends to prevent them from splitting more.
Keep your hair game on point ladies! Don't give up because you have been suffering from split ends for too long, you just have to find the right solution! It definitely will not happen overnight, just give it time and soon enough you will have less and less split ends!
