It’s no secret that we all love to use hair masks from time-to-time (okay, maybe ‘everyday’ is a better word). I mean, who doesn’t love adding a stunning sleek shine, deep moisture, & an overall whole new rejuvenation to their hair. For that reason, we’re going to talk all about hair masks today — the secrets & the tips you need in your life for achieving the hair of your dreams! So, step aside diamonds — cause’ ladies, we’ve found the new & improved gals best friend! So, without further ado, let’s talk about 7 must-hear hair mask secrets that you need to know!

1. DO IT OVERNIGHT

First & foremost, the best way to truly soak up the benefits & moisture of a hair mask properly is to leave it on for as long as possible (which can even be overnight!). Most hair masks are made of natural ingredients that won’t do damage to your hair after prolonged use, which makes them ideal for using for hours on end! Overnight masks are extremely popular to do because it’s the perfect way to ensure your hair is taken care of even if can’t fit that hair appointment in during the day (we’ve all been there!). So wrap it up in plastic, a towel, or even tie it in two little buns to avoid a mess, but make sure you throw that hair up & watch that quality follow!

2. KEEP IT COZY

Just as when you bleach or dye your hair, the best results come from keeping your head & hair heated. This is because heat helps to speed up chemical reactions & allows your cuticles to suck up moisture easier (whether that be by a hot towel, blow dryer, or heated mask). Perfect for those on a tight schedule, there’s absolutely no excuse for not treating your hair & having some ‘you’ time in the process!

3. USE IT BEFORE DYE/AFTER

Dying hair is one of my absolute favorite things to do, but it definitely doesn’t come without its fair share of damage (if you’ve ever dyed your hair before, I know you feel me!). But hold your horses — this doesn't mean you shouldn’t dye your hair (I mean, how else are you going to achieve that unicorn rainbow aesthetic?), but it does mean you should take precautions ahead of time to keep it healthy, & that includes a hair mask before & after the coloring process to ensure the health of your hair is boosted & whatever damage was done is reversed & rejuvenated! For this, we recommend using Argan Oil Hair Mask from Luseta Beauty which is a personal favorite to hair colorists around, as it is dye friendly & perfect for adding moisture back into damaged hair (which you definitely need if you color it!). Swing by the Luseta Beauty website & see why it is definitely a must-have!

4. PUT MORE FOCUS ON THE TIPS

Perhaps this is a bit of a no-brainer, but focusing on the ends of your hair is extremely important when doing masks. Since the ends of your hair have been around for the longest, they are therefore the most damaged, delicate, & brittle parts of your hairs compared to your roots or virgin hair. For this reason, whether you’re using a hair mask or just conditioning, it’s important to put a little more emphasis on the ends of your hair to help keep in moisture & prevent breakage or split ends (so give em’ a good ole’ rubbin’! Trust us, your hair will love your for it!)

5. USE A MASK AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK

Many women believe that in order to have healthy hair, you have to buy dozens of products & perform daily face masks, but the reality of it is you just need to make time for it a little every week (kind of like a boyfriend — er, did I just say that out-loud?). As long as you put in the time & energy to take care of your hair, your hair is gonna love you right back with vibrant & beautiful health! 6. FIGHTS DANDRUFF

Another cool thing about hair masks that most people don’t know about is they are also a fantastic natural cure to dandruff (I’m talking like marriage material right now). It’s true! Natural oils that are put in hair masks to help moisten & penetrate your cuticles on an entirely different level that actually moisturizes your scalp so well that it can be a fantastic assistant in healing dry or irritated skin without using any of the harsh chemicals on the market for it (no seriously, I’m already down on one knee, let’s do this).

7. USE A MASK RICH IN BOTANICALS OILS

And lastly, our favorite hair mask hack is making the most out of botanical oils. By now you should recognize a bit of a pattern here with natural products & oils & the benefits they offer your hair, skin, & health overall — & honey botanical oils are where it’s at! Everything from olive to coconut — start pampering your hair regularly with these powerful essentials or even incorporate them into your own personal DIY hair mask & watch what magic it will work for you! And our personal favorite is the Macadamia & Argan Oil Hair Mas k which is a powerful source of vitamins & proteins, & no sulfates to give you that healthy shine (trust us, you’ll never go back to those chemical-filled brands after trying these natural beauties!).
