Ah, pesky flyaways—one of the most annoying parts of hair is also one of the biggest sources of controversy in the hair world. Even people with the most naturally smooth and straight hair seem to have issues with flyaway hairs every now and then. But what causes them? And is there a way to get rid of them once and for all? Unfortunately not, but there are ways to minimize how many appear and form, which we’ll cover in this blog post alongside our own trade secrets. Everyone seems to have their own secret on how to get sleek hair, but we wanted to share our trick for taming flyaways instantly.
WHAT ARE FLYAWAYS?
Before we start telling you how to fix the problem we should probably explain what flyaways are and how they happen in the first place. Flyaways happen when your hair loses a lot of its hydration and moisture and succumbs to static electricity. If you’ve ever had your hair set perfectly, only for it to magically stick up straight as soon as you put a sweater on, it’s probably because your hair was a bit dry to begin with and succumbed to some static electricity when you put your clothes on.
Most often, we hear about flyaways being a big problem for people with naturally straight or shorter hair. Naturally curly hair will have a harder time sticking straight up when exposed to static electricity, and natural curls often have a harder time losing moisture in the same way that straight hair does. Don’t be mistaken, though, as naturally curly hair has its own set of issues that have to be dealt with differently. If you suffer from frequent flyaways, make sure that your hair is getting enough moisture from the products that you use in it.
TWO SIMPLE HACKS USING EXPECTED PRODUCTS
One of the simplest ways to combat flyaways is to use a product that will help keep your hair weighed down. Many people spray a bit of hairspray on a toothbrush and gently wipe it onto the areas of their hair most prone to flyaways in order to avoid the problem, but it doesn’t have to be that time consuming. Others resort to extremes like rubbing dryer sheets in their hair, since flyaways are often caused by excess static and dryer sheets work to combat that in clothing. While this may also work, you don’t have to go to such extreme lengths to avoid having a few strands stick out of place.
THE LUSETA BEAUTY SECRET
When we reach for the flat iron and know that our hair is going to be prone to some flyaways, we make sure to work a little bit of the Luseta Beauty Perfect Bonding Cream into our hair before we begin styling. The Perfect Bonding Cream helps to nourish and protect hair from heat tools and other environmental pollutants that can contribute to hair damage, but without weighing our hair down and making it appear greasy. This is important, because hair with no flyaways at all can often look flat and without dimension. But too many flyaways will make your hair look as if you’ve been rubbing your head on a balloon. Life is about balance, and so is a good hair day.
ANTI-FRIZZ PRODUCTS
While Frizz isn’t technically the same as flyaways, frizz fighting products will help prevent the appearance of flyaways in between shampoos. When you dry your hair with a towel you end up tugging on it, potentially drying out the ends and creating frizz that contributes to the appearance of flyaways. If you have curly hair, this is especially true. Avoid flyaways and frizz with anti-frizz products and by gently patting your hair dry instead of rubbing a towel over it.
PERFECT BONDING PRODUCTS
Speaking of Perfect Bonding Products, your hair is more prone to flyaways if it suffers from breakage. Avoid breakage by nourishing your hair with the right nutrients and vitamins to help restore broken bonds on hair follicles. The Perfect Bonding Collection from Luseta beauty works to nourish each and every hair follicle, repairing broken, dried out bonds while protecting the hair follicle from future exposure to breakage, frizz, and flyaways.
